Monsanto is a Global Leader in the Vegetable Seed Industry.  Vegetable Breeding and R&D Monsanto is seeking a highly motivated individual with the ability to lead a multi-disciplinary Global Vegetable Research and Development Support Team. The Breeding Support Lead will primarily be responsible for providing strategic and organizational leadership for the Breeding Support Specialists which are delivering high-level technical support to our Global Vegetable Breeding Scientists, Breeders, and other research staff.

Vegetable Research and Development Support Lead
The Veg R&D Support Lead will have the opportunity to lead Global Vegetable R&D support team by leading training and support specialists, as well as molecular workflow and deployment. Main deliverable is the implementation of current and new breeding processes, as well as product rollout and support.. The lead will provide strategic direction and supervision for a growing team of Support Specialists.  Additionally, the position will be responsible for coordinating with leads of the Data and Software divisions of the Vegetable Pipeline Solutions Center of Excellence. The support team is responsible for gathering feedback from breeding staff and scientific leads to develop improved workflows to support process improvement.  This will include the development and distribution of standard operating procedures and best management practices.  The Vegetable R&D Support Lead role is an excellent opportunity to work with leading-edge technology and talented cross-functional scientists who are driving to deliver the very best vegetable genetics.  The Pipeline Solutions Center of Excellence (COE) is responsible for delivery of centralized solutions around data informed decisions and pipeline analytics, working from the perspective a local community team working in partnership with the enterprise IT organization.   
Your main responsibilities are: 
Activities can include, but are not limited to:
- Provide remote and on-site organization and technical leadership regarding global vegetable breeding processes involving strategic travel in Europe (Netherlands, France, Spain, Italy) and Globally.
- Coordinate with Software and Data leads within the Pipeline Solutions Center of Excellence.
- Provide input on evolution of Pipeline Solutions Center of Excellence.
- Partner with Enterprise IT colleagues in product development and project management; frequent communication in all areas of key delivery  
- Lead development of trainings and training practices to instruct users on breeding workflows
- Guide Support Specialists to research new technologies with potential to enhance or replace current systems
- Interact with scientists and breeders on remote and on-site project related needs
- Work with other Monsanto crops and functions to learn about cross-functional tools and support models
- Establish models for support document creation and process reviews for job-related activities
- Provide leadership regarding a safe and healthy workplace
- Personally model adherence to all safety regulations and requirements

Required Skills/Experience: 

- 5 years of leadership experience
- BS degree in a related field (e.g. plant sciences, breeding, computer science, etc.)
- Good understanding of biology and biology research methodologies
- Computer proficiency in learning applications and expertise in developing training programs for users
- Advanced word processing and spreadsheet competencies
- Ability to travel overnight occasionally, including international  travel 
- Individual leadership skills including excellent organizational and record keeping
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent in relationship and networks 
- Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary/multicultural global support team
- Write and speak fluently in English

Desired Skills/Experience:

- MS degree in a related field and three years of related work experience
- Familiarity with multiple aspects of breeding workflows, preference for familiarity with vegetable breeding
- Familiarity with record management techniques and tools, general data management experience
- Demonstrated project management skills
- Experience with developing and executing programs for training professionals on the job
- Proficiency in language(s) other than English (Spanish, Dutch, French) or desire and ability to learn
- Experience working with Monsanto Enterprise IT systems
